Ali Velshi: Don’t leak money
Январь 7th, 2009 by thepleasurespredator
If you’re a NASCAR driver, you can’t afford to be leaking fuel on the track. You won’t be able to get the power you need. You won’t be able to drive as far. You’ll have to keep pulling over for more gas while your competitors accelerate around the track.
It’s the same with debt and your financial future. You can’t cruise smoothly to where you want to go if you’re "leaking" money.
So before you can build your future, you have to make sure you’re not weighed down by the past. You’ve got to get out of debt, because you need all your resources focused on going forward.
Not all debt is bad, however. Most homeowners, for example, have a mortgage. A mortgage means you can live in your house even though the bank, and not you, owns part of it.
A mortgage gives you tax benefits as well. And a mortgage gives you the luxury of not having to pay for your house all at once; so you can take the money you would have had to pay and invest it for a higher rate of return than the rate of interest you’re paying on your mortgage. Have an investment question? Ask Ali

Say your mortgage costs you $600 a month. Take another $50 a month and save it. That’s $600 a year.
If you invested that $600 over 30 years, the life of the typical mortgage, at an annual compound rate of 10 percent, you’d have $113,966.27. At the same time, you’d be living in the house and, most likely, watching its value grow over time. So, it’s pretty clear that a mortgage is a good kind of debt to crime movies have, as long as you can comfortably afford the payments. At the other end of the spectrum, there’s credit card debt.
Most of us have credit cards, of course, and many of us carry a balance on them. In fact, in 2008, 75 percent of U.S. households had credit cards — the average adult had nine of them — and 40 percent of those cardholders carry a balance. It seems to be a normal thing to do.

Don’t Miss
But it’s really a bad idea. Credit card debt is extremely expensive. Interest rates range up to 30 percent a year. That means for every $1,000 you carry on your balance, the credit card company could be charging you $300 each year.
That $300 can mean a lot of things — a decent TV, a car payment or new clothes for the kids. Or you could invest that $300, so it would make more money for you. The one thing none of us should do is take that hard-earned money and send it to the credit card companies just for letting us spend more than we can afford.

for 2009, books, movies, magazines, television shows, and restaurant reviews will be accompanied by a star rating. the system will be based on 5 stars and utilize shelter foremost ratings to further clarify. (i.e 4.25 stars) these are based on my own gut reactions and there is no scrupulous method as to how ratings will be assigned.additionally, i desire point out quick-tempered elements that might pain some readers or of which they want to be aware using the following traditions at the end of each array:l=offensive languages=explicit sexv=graphic violencemc=openly mocks christian beliefscf=christian fiction*please note that if the register contains any of these elements at all, i will attach the criterion criteria. if there is what i feel to be an unusually momentous amount of any one element it will be unashamedly mentioned in the look over.i hope this command better throw light on how i go through in books and whether or not they are a personal property fit for you!

Norv Turner knows how to win in December and January
Jerry Jones came very close to hiring Norv Turner before giving Wade Phillips his gig. In hindsight, it’s clear that Jerry should have had co-head coaches, letting Wade handle September through November before handing the headset to Norv.
Turner’s tenure in San Diego hasn’t been smooth sailing, but his Chargers peak down the stretch, which happens to be when the Cowboys fall apart.
After tonight’s thrilling OT win over the Colts, San Diego is 12-1 in December and January the last two seasons, including 3-1 in playoff games. The Cowboys are 3-6 in December and January under Phillips, including a home playoff loss as the NFC’s top seed.

my favorite video of 2008 - poker face!
good evening! i’ve been so super swamped getting ready for my hawaiian vacation which kicks off on thursday (i’m so freakin’ excited) plus i’m distressing to get up my top ten favorite albums of 2008 which i hope will be posted here on popbytes tomorrow evening - so tonight i’m keeping things fairly short & dulcet - here’s my favorite video of the year…lady gaga’s super hot track poker face (after going with little and forth for a fragment - her debut album the fame has secured a spot in my top ten albums - i had my reasons not to encompass her which i’m going to keep to myself but the positives outweighed the negatives…) i love this video - i’d kill to live at the mansion featured (along with having those sexy boys wait on me hand & foot) and those vast dogs are so darn lovable - it’s all so la mode - plus the track is hands down one of the best of the year - addle it up way fortissimo and let yourself go! popbytes over & out notwithstanding tonight…xoxo (oh yeah - i spitting image dare christina aguilera to come out with a hotter video than this…)
