we wouldn’t have expected to find out about it in u.s. news & world report either, but lo and behold, a genuine headline from the unborn:

(Washington, D.C.) — White House environmental “czar” Carol Browner announced her resignation today, citing a desire to “spend more time with her family.”

So there you have it. Thanks to dogged determination, a Christmas miracle, and presumably sales on the Question trade paperbacks from O’Neil, Cowan, and edited by some Gold guy, we’ll be seeing a return of Vic Sage in 2010.

Of course, if it doesn’t pan out, blame Dan DiDio as usual.

Big in Japan Stuff: Puma’s Japanese Monster Pack

Puma has released a limited-edition series of sneakers entitled, Japanese Monster Pack, as an unofficial tribute to Japanese monster movies like Godzilla that were released by Toho back in the day. Each signature shoe lists the “Skills” and “Attributes” of the monster on the inner tongues, while the outer materials are textured after the respective Rampage-ers’ armor and skin. Arcade Fire’s Butler Talks Miroir Noir, The Box Score

On our last day in the office before the holiday break, we received an early Christmas/Hanukkah present: A chat with Win Butler of the Arcade Fire. Butler and his band laid low for most of 2008 (give or take a few Obama rallies), taking a well-deserved break after years of nearly nonstop recording and touring. But expect to hear a lot from the Arcade Fire in 2009. The band is working on a new album, and Butler, his wife and Arcade Fire co-leader Régine Chassagne, and Final Fantasy’s Owen Pallett, did indeed write the score for The Box, the forthcoming film from director Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko).Last week, the band digitally released Miroir Noir, a film documenting the making of their 2007 album Neon Bible and the tour in support of it. The film will be released on DVD in March, with pre-orders available now.We talked with Butler about Miroir Noir, The Box, and, of course, the next Arcade Fire album. Oh, and last night, someone broke into his car and stole his iPod. So if you’re in Montreal and you hear somebody bragging about all the cool stuff Win Butler has on his iPod, turn them into the police immediately, please.

The Fox Business Network Tries to Look Legitimate

The first thing that came to mind when I saw this headline and read this article ? Fox Business [FBN] Sues Treasury Department ? was that FBN is making a play for publicity in an attempt to look legitimate. FBN hasn’t caught on since it debuted in October of 2007 (its managing editor continues to beg people to watch) and give me a break, since when has Fox cared to “hold the government accountable?”

Will publicity like this make people think FBN is a “real” business news network and thus (fingers crossed, please, please, please) boost its ratings? That’s what I think Fox is up to.
