Time Lord triumphs in Constellation Awards for science fiction

THIS year’s Constellation Awards for Canadian science fiction TV series and movies gave three trophies to British hit series Doctor Who, which is part-funded and co-produced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

The show swept the television categories, winning best male performance for David Tennant’s role in the Human Nature/Family of Blood storyline with a 49 per cent vote (runner up was Supernatural’s Jenson Ackles with 15 per cent of the vote); best female performance for British actress Carey Mulligan’s guest appearance as Sally Sparrow in the episode Blink; and best science fiction TV series of 2007, a category in which its 40 per cent vote beat Battlestar Galactica, Supernatural, Jericho, Stargate Atlantis and Chuck.
